A browser extension that grades product reviews across Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and Etsy for authenticity after Fakespot and ReviewMeta both shut down in 2025-2026
Fakespot, the fake review detection extension with 10 million users, was shut down by Mozilla on July 1, 2025. ReviewMeta, the other major player, went offline in early 2026. Together they served the entire market for browser-based fake review protection. The fragmented replacements (Savino, FakeFind, ReviewLens, Buydit) each cover only Amazon, lack the grading quality of Fakespot, or require separate tools per retailer. No single replacement covers Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, and Etsy in one extension with a comparable A-F grading system. The displaced user base is enormous and actively searching for alternatives. A freemium model with a paid tier for unlimited scans or multi-retailer access is directly monetizable.
