Apple Intelligence Notification Summaries Generate False Headlines, BBC Calls for Removal
Apple Intelligence (iOS 18.1+) summarizes push notifications but generates false headlines. The BBC flagged it generating: Rafael Nadal came out as gay (false), Luigi Mangione shot himself (false), Darts player Littler won championship hours before it happened (false). BBC called for Apple to remove the feature. Reporters Without Borders filed a formal call. Apple temporarily disabled the feature for news/entertainment apps. Only 41.6% of iPhone owners with compatible hardware even tried Apple Intelligence, and 73% of those found it adds little to no value. iOS 26 is re-enabling the feature after refinements.

Gap Assessment
No third-party iOS app can intercept system notification summaries. The gap is within Apple's own OS. Wide open for a notification reliability layer on Android.
